We work closely with communities to retain the distinctive qualities of local identity areas through setting design guidelines for existing and new developments, and retaining key elements. These local identity areas are also being rejuvenated with new public spaces, upgraded streetscapes, or sensitive injection of new homes and amenities.

The built heritage that URA and the National Heritage Board helped protect over the last 30 to 40 years showcases our nation’s history and progress, fosters a stronger national identity and adds a distinct Singaporean character.
