When streets are temporarily closed to vehicles, they can become lively spaces with interesting activities for everyone to enjoy!
👉 How will closed streets benefit me?
If you’re a stakeholder in the area
Street closures have the potential to draw crowds to enjoy the programmes in open public spaces. People have the opportunity to conduct lively interactions in spaces normally reserved for cars, thus bringing vibrancy and footfall to the area.
If you’re on the lookout for fun and exciting activities
Possible programmes that can take place on closed streets range from open-air fitness workouts to music and urban art festivals with plenty to see, eat and do. We welcome you to experience car-free streets and to have fun with your friends and family!
The Lively Places Programme is a joint initiative by URA and HDB to support community-led efforts in enlivening Singapore’s public spaces. This includes providing support for street closures to transform them into active public spaces for the community.
