Explore and learn more about Singapore’s architecture through the showcase of over 500 architectural archival materials and artefacts from William Lim Associates and W Architects. These archival materials are the first extensive contribution to the Singapore Architecture Collection. Announced in August 2023, the Singapore Architecture Collection seeks to deepen efforts in documenting, preserving and making available a wider repository of archival materials on Singapore’s growth as a city, as well as on our modern and contemporary architecture. The exhibition features 19 key projects, from the sensitive refurbishment of the National Museum of Singapore to Paterson Edge, which had introduced compact city living, and Bu Ye Tian, a past heritage adaptive proposal for the Singapore River. On display for the first time, the architectural drawings and artefacts reveal many behind-the-scenes stories and insights on the design processes, global influences, local contexts, building regulations and changing local lifestyle aspirations that have shaped the firms’ creative visions over the years.
