Authorisation Conditions for Childcare Centres
Find out when you can set up a childcare centre without needing planning permission from URA.
No planning permission is required to convert to a childcare centre in the following developments:
Commercial buildings (e.g. shopping centres)
Mixed commercial and residential developments (within premises approved for commercial use in the development and excludes shophouses/shopflats; Refer to diagram)
Hotel (within premises approved for commercial use in the development; Refer to diagram)
Civic and Community institutions (e.g. community centres, association buildings)
Education institutions (e.g. schools)
Medical and healthcare buildings (e.g. hospitals)
Sports and recreation premises (e.g. clubhouses)
HDB void decks
The above authorisation is subject to the following conditions:
The development is not subject to special planning conditions on allowable building uses.
The Gross Floor Area (GFA) of the childcare centre is less than 50% of the total GFA of the development.
You have complied with the licensing requirements from relevant government agencies before commencing the use.
