Singapore Architecture Collection (SAC)
Explore the Singapore Architecture Collection — an archive of the nation's modern and contemporary architecture. From models and drawings to photographs and artefacts, these records reveal the stories behind our landmarks and everyday spaces and inspire us to design a better built environment for Singapore.
About
The Singapore Architecture Collection (SAC) was established in 2023 to document and preserve archival materials on Singapore's modern and contemporary architecture, capturing our architectural and urban design heritage. It is jointly managed by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the National Library Board (NLB), and the National Heritage Board (NHB), in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
“Collecting and preserving architectural archival materials is like saving an heirloom that you can pass on. If we do not have any photographs or drawings of buildings, you can’t even begin to visualise. The Collection shares insights on how Singapore’s physical landscape has evolved and why.”— Dr Wong Yunn Chii, Project Historian, Singapore Architecture Collection Honorary Fellow, Department of Architecture College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore
Contribute
Architects, planners, urban designers, built environment professionals and individuals are encouraged to contribute archival materials to the Collection that will enrich our architectural and urban design narrative. Donated materials will be made available for research, education, and exhibition — ensuring that the stories behind Singapore's built environment endure for current and future generations.
Care
All contributions will be carefully managed, curated, and conserved. Proper environmental controls and handling practices will be applied to protect materials from deterioration. Digitisation will be carried out in due course, with priority given to fragile or at-risk items.
