The Singapore River precinct, with its three distinctive quays – Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Roberston Quay – is located in the historic heart of the city. For centuries, Singapore River served as a busy trade route for all sorts of goods and was Singapore’s main commercial lifeline. Today, the river remains a lively activity corridor in the city that pays homage to the area’s rich history while also injecting buzz, with the larger precinct offering a diverse mix of residential amenities, exciting commercial activities and a bustling nightlife.

Key Initiatives
Annual Singapore River Festival which links up the 3 quays to celebrate the fusion of local heritage, vibrant culture and creativity via activities such as light activations, music performances, wellness activities, food and heritage trails and more. The 2024 edition drew more than 100,000 people.
Annual St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival at Circular Road which celebrates the Irish holiday through festivities such as live entertainment, traditional music, dance performances, carnival booths and more. The 2025 edition drew more than 32,000 visitors over 1 weekend.
Management of Boat Quay Outdoor Refreshment Areas to enhance visitor and dining experience along the riverfront.
Implementation of public installations such as creative public seating, playground, underpass wall murals, wired art on lamp-posts and festive lighting, which augment the public realm for the community and visitors’ enjoyment.
Collaborations with agencies on various programmes to draw footfall to the precinct and ensure a clean and safe environment, such as organisation of regular fitness programmes with Health Promotion Board, designation of busking spots along the river with National Arts Council, participation in Singapore Police Force’s Safe Clubbing campaign and regular site hygiene inspections in Boat Quay with National Environment Agency.
