Rail Corridor
The Rail Corridor is a former railway line that has been transformed into a community and recreational corridor, stretching from the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station in the south to Woodlands in the north.
A historic line for nature and communities
The former Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway line has been transformed into a 24-kilometre community and recreational corridor. Stretching from the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station in the south to Woodlands in the north, it threads through diverse communities – connecting as many as one million residents within a one-kilometre radius and visitors from all walks of life.

Over the past 14 years, the corridor has been shaped in consultation with Singaporeans. These aspirations have been reflected in the planning and design goals for the corridor and continue to guide its next stage of development:
Preserve continuous green spine.
Celebrate railway heritage.
Enhance inclusiveness for people of all ages and abilities.
Optimise development of adjacent land.
It really excites me to see that future neighbours and Rail Corridor users have come together to share their ideas to design the space for the benefIt of the community.— Xing Rong, future resident of Queenstown

Community spaces for all
Ten community nodes along the Rail Corridor serve as gathering spaces for the community. Four nodes have been implemented and more are on the horizon.

Queensway Node
Transforming an unused space into an extraordinary community node
Queensway node is in the heart of Queenstown, surrounded by Tanglin Halt, Mei Chin and Queensway estates. The site includes a large, sheltered space beneath the Queensway Flyover, with the Rail Corridor trail running through.

The node consists of three key areas:
A | B | C |
|---|---|---|
An elevated earth mound west of the trail, which opens into an expansive, sheltered space under the viaduct structure. | The Rail Corridor trail and the sloping sides along it. | An open space at the interface between the Rail Corridor, surrounding access points and the future residential developments. |
Reimagining the node for the community
A design competition was held in September 2024 to turn this large, sheltered area underneath a viaduct into an extraordinary community space. The winning proposal will be developed and refined with various stakeholders, and residents can look forward to the completion of the node in tandem with surrounding developments.
Here are some new features of the Queensway node:

A new multi-functional space for sports, events and gatherings will be created underneath the viaduct at Area A. Its design takes reference from familiar landmarks around Queenstown.

Inspired by the Queenstown library and former Tanglin Halt gas holder, the new playground will add opportunities for play.

A new porous and illuminated platform allows visitors to immerse themselves in nature while providing new ways to access the node.
Former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station
Located at the fringe of the Central Business District (CBD) and surrounded by established housing estates, the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) will serve as the key southern gateway to the Rail Corridor, the CBD and the future Greater Southern Waterfront (GSW).
A green network within the future GSW will connect TPRS and the Rail Corridor to the waterfront and key places or interest along the southern coast, e.g. Labrador Nature Reserve, Pasir Panjang Park, Pasir Panjang Power District and West Coast Park.
Honouring heritage, breathing new life
Plans to develop the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will take place after 2028, following the completion of Cantonment MRT Station on the Circle Line 6 extension and the restoration of the building.

Former Bukit Timah Fire Station
A new gateway to nature and heritage
The node will be progressively transformed into a starting point for visitors to access nature trails and heritage attractions nearby. A new community space for recreation, learning and co-living opened in 2025. Plans are also underway for a visitor centre and an eco-pedestrian bridge, which will seamlessly connect this node and the Rail Corridor to Bukit Batok Nature Park in the next phase of development.

Stagmont Ring Node
Bringing the community together
At the confluence of Yew Tee residential estate, the future Sungei Kadut Eco District, Pang Sua Canal and the upcoming DE1 MRT Station along the Downtown Line 2 extension, this node will bring together residents, workers and visitors to the Rail Corridor. It will introduce a sheltered space underneath a new road viaduct and gathering areas along the Rail Corridor trail.
