About
This bungalow, originally named Bangor, was designed by Tan Chin Hin in 1904 for O. Muhlenbien. It stands on land that was part of the Lady Hill estate granted to Gilbert Angus by the East India Company in 1848.
The History
Cheang Jim Chuan, a son of Cheang Hong Lim, lived in the bungalow for some time. In 1931, it was sold to the Scheut Missions, a Roman Catholic missionary order which occupied the bungalow until 1997.
The Legacy
In adapting the bungalow for modern-day living, care was taken to identify, retain, and restore original features such as the wrought iron grillwork and stained glass panels that make the bungalow special.
