About
This bungalow was commissioned by E. A. Barbour & Co. in 1927 and designed by Frank Wilhelm Brewer (1886–1971), the first university-trained architect to practise in Singapore. It was the private residence of the late Ong Teng Cheong, Singapore's first elected president and himself a prominent architect.
The Building
The bungalow features all the classic Brewer hallmarks: flared eaves, oriel windows, exposed brick voussoirs, and buttressed walls.
The Legacy
In the mid-1990s, the bungalow was restored and extended by Ong Teng Cheong's architectural practice in accordance with the conservation principles of maximum retention, sensitive restoration, and careful repair.

All proposed works will need to comply with the Conservation Guidelines and the Specific Restoration Guidelines (SRG). Conservation Permission is required before all additions & alteration works and operations of new use can begin.
