About
124 St Patrick’s Road is a single-storey Victorian-style bungalow built around 1914.
The Building
The building is planned in a linear fashion to maximize its view towards the sea. Its layout is simple, with its focal point being the central living area with double doors that open out onto splendid views of the sea on one side and the spacious grounds on the other, simultaneously allowing for effective cross-ventilation.
The symmetrical building has two frontages, both lengths of which are edged with generous verandahs. Along the frontage which faced the sea, it boasts a grand semi-circular porch whereas the other frontage features a delightful rectilinear porch.
Elegant architectural details, such as ionic columns along the verandahs and turrets on the roof parapet, add to the visual delight of the bungalow. Furthermore, ornamental plastered ceilings, arches and mouldings on the interior add to its charm and grandeur.
Guidelines and Procedures
All proposed works will need to comply with the Conservation Guidelines and the Specific Restoration Guidelines (SRG). Conservation Permission is required before all additions & alteration works and operations of new use can begin.
Residential Fronts are characterised by timber casement windows flanking a double-leafed timber door. All buildings with residential front which is existing and/or identified in the 'Specific Restoration Guidelines', regardless of land use zoning, shall be retained and restored.
