About
These three pre-war shophouses (127, 129 & 131 Serangoon Road) were previously derelict and their façades had been highly altered. The roof of one of the shophouses was also on the verge of collapse.
The Legacy
Prior to their restoration, a photographic inventory of original façade features that were still intact was carried out, together with detailed measurements to facilitate the reinstatement of the shophouses to their original design. The second-storey arched openings of the shophouses were reinstated, while ceramic bottle balusters had to be sourced to replace the missing ones at the roof parapet of 127 & 129 Serangoon Road. Overall, the sensitive restoration of the shophouses has helped to recapture their original beauty and charm.
