About
Built in the late 19th century, three connected warehouse structures along the Singapore River were once occupied by the Ho Hong Oil Mills.
The History
The buildings were given a new lease of life while retaining hints of their past. Careful research uncovered eroded elements such as the Chinese characters on the façade that bore the name of the oil mill.
The Building
The original form and spatial qualities were kept while new interventions were sensitively integrated to meet modern needs. The lobby showcases the double volume space of the former warehouse as well as its original roof trusses. Architectural elements typical in warehouses, such as the vertical security bars, plaster mouldings, and jack roofs, continue to pay homage to the building's past.
The Legacy
The buildings have been restored and readapted into a boutique hotel.
Guidelines and Procedures
All proposed works will need to comply with the Conservation Guidelines and the Specific Restoration Guidelines (SRG). Conservation Permission is required before all additions & alteration works and operations of new use can begin.
