Former Mayfair Hotel

About
Comprising the former Art Deco style Mayfair Hotel on Armenian Street and seven adjoining Neo-Classical style shophouses extending into Loke Yew Street, this development underwent restoration from 2008 to 2010.
Hock Hiap Leong, the former coffee shop at 34 Armenian Street was the subject of Royston Tan’s 2001 short film of the same name, and was popular for its ngoh hiang (five-spice meat rolls) and char kway teow (stir-fried flat rice noodles).
Renowned piano instructor Lucien Wang (1909 - 2007) had her residence and studio on the 3rd floor of 6 Loke Yew Street and was responsible for grooming many local talents such as Ong Lip Tat and Benjamin Loh.

Guidelines and Procedures
All proposed works will need to comply with the Conservation Guidelines and the Specific Restoration Guidelines (SRG). Conservation Permission is required before all additions & alteration works and operations of new use can begin.
Residential Fronts are characterised by timber casement windows flanking a double-leafed timber door. All buildings with residential front which is existing and/or identified in the 'Specific Restoration Guidelines', regardless of land use zoning, shall be retained and restored.
