Creating new experiences with every movement: i Light Singapore 2026 transforms Marina Bay into an interactive light playground

1    Opening this Friday, 5 June 2026, i Light Singapore, Asia’s leading light festival, will transform Marina Bay and Raffles Place into an interactive playground of light and colour. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and presented by UOB, the Festival returns to Marina Bay to bring people together to enjoy all that our city has to offer. Featuring 14 captivating light art installations anchored on the theme of Movement, visitors can immerse themselves in ever-changing experiences shaped by their own movements and interactions with the art installations. This edition also shines a spotlight on Asian artistic talent, bringing together a diverse line-up of artists from the region and beyond to present fresh perspectives on how we move, live, and connect.

2    Movement is at the heart of the Marina Bay precinct – a People’s Bay where experiences and the environment are constantly evolving. The Festival brings this energy into focus and creates a space for interaction and reflection, inviting visitors to engage with artworks that explore the pulse of the city and the collective energy of its people. Through carefully curated installations and programmes, i Light Singapore transforms the iconic Marina Bay waterfront and Raffles Place Park into a vibrant light playground for all.

Movement that connects, transforms and inspires 

4    From immersive soundscapes to an interactive cube, and an inventive reuse of barbershop poles, the installations bring this vision to life – illuminating how people, ideas, and cultures shape our collective identity.

5    At Clifford Square, Barbershop Wonderland by Jeon Byeong Sam (South Korea) conjures a nostalgic yet futuristic mood with 200 rotating multi-coloured barbershop poles that spring to life with light and motion as visitors approach. Presented by The Fullerton Heritage, the installation draws on the barbershop’s history as a place of grooming and healing, transforming a familiar symbol into a space for unwinding and forging new connections.

6    Behind the Breeze Shelters, RESONORA by OSTUDIO x Dearista (Indonesia) captures the city’s invisible sounds and translates them into shifting patterns of light across flowing suspended fabric. Traffic, conversation, and the ambient hum of urban life are recorded in real time and rendered as colour and rhythm, turning the urban soundscape into an immersive, multi-sensory experience. At the lawn beside the NTUC Centre, Sliced by Encor Studio (Switzerland) offers a minimalist contrast. A long corridor is shrouded in darkness by thick hanging fabric, its surface dotted with perforations through which light streaks in, casting shifting shadows and patterns with every movement. Visitors are invited to walk through and experience the interplay of light and shadows around them.

7    Over at the Event Square, Between Mountains and Seas by Peppercorns (Taiwan) brings cinematic scale to the Bay through a five-chapter audiovisual journey tracing the movement of civilisations and landscapes over time. Through expansive light displays and immersive soundscapes inspired by the ocean and mountains, this evocative work invites visitors to reflect on the forces that shaped our world long before civilisation, and renew their commitment to protecting the planet’s fragile beauty.

8    Next to the Red Dot Design Museum, Celebration of Life by DP Design and Yeo Ker Siang (Singapore) takes the form of a towering six-metre cube structure whose panels combine colours, mirrored surfaces, and live close-ups of visitors’ facial features and gestures, interspersed with motifs contributed by Defence Collective Singapore (DCS) staff and members of the public. Presented by DCS, the installation captures the beauty of human diversity through motion, stitching together the subtle everyday expressions that define our shared identity.

10    Beyond the artworks, the Festival offers an array of  programmes for families, friends and visitors of all ages to explore, experience, and enjoy Marina Bay together. 

11    Watch art come to life as local creative collective DPLMT hosts two live graffiti art showcases on 6 and 19 June 2026 at Infinite Graffiti, located at the entrance of Marina Bay Link Mall. Blending street art, technology, and live expression, the showcases translate this year’s theme of Movement into bold visual works. For those seeking a more contemplative experience, the Submersion vinyasa yoga session on 27 June 2026 offers a welcome contrast. Held at The Promontory in partnership with Wild Pearl Studio and Beam World, the session features a live DJ guiding participants through an “electronic sound bath” synced to their own phones and earbuds, creating the feeling of a private sanctuary in the heart of the city.

12    Fan-favourite Silent Disco Parade will also return on 20 June 2026, inviting participants to groove alongside the Festival’s signature light installations around the Bay. Starting at ArtScience Museum and culminating in a grand finale at The Promontory, this rhythmic procession through the illuminated precinct offers an unforgettable way to experience the Festival.

13    Festival-goers can look forward to a curated mix of returning favourites and exciting new additions across GastroBeats’ culinary and live music offerings. Back by popular demand, The Meatmen Channel returns with crowd-pleasing dishes that won hearts last year, while first-time vendor rice. makes its debut with a festival-exclusive menu of bold Asian flavours celebrating all things rice. On the stage, the GastroBeats x Sony Music GIGs Mentorship Programme continues to champion homegrown talent – rising musicians will showcase their talents, alongside seasoned festival mainstays 53A, SuperSonic, and Jive Talking.

14    At WAVE, one of the Festival’s key light art installations, rhythm takes centre stage. Drum Prodigy, Singapore’s first inclusive drum school, will lead two Community Drum Circles – titled Waves of Unity, on 6 and 13 June 2026. Supported by the Festival and UOB, the Circles bring together UOB’s beneficiaries, employee volunteers and their families to activate the installation using percussion instruments, demonstrating the collective power of music and light. The public is invited to watch the spectacle unfold – an immersive visual and auditory experience as the installation ripples across The Promontory. 

Guided by sustainable principles 

15    Sustainability remains a fundamental principle for i Light Singapore. The Festival’s signature ‘Switch Off, Turn Up’ campaign also returns to rally building owners and businesses across Singapore to reduce energy consumption by switching off non-essential lighting and optimising air-conditioning temperatures. In addition, the Festival has worked closely with partners to prioritise energy-efficient technologies and sustainable practices in the creation of the light art installations.
