URA Launches Sale Tender for Conserved Buildings at Chitty Road and Veerasamy Road
5 March 2026
1 The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has launched a tender for the sale of a cluster of conserved buildings at Chitty Road and Veerasamy Road today.
2 The 18 two-storey conserved pre-war buildings were constructed in 1927 and are located on a 0.34 hectare site in the Little India Historic District. Originally built as municipal quarters for government employees, the properties comprise two parallel rows of terrace houses linked by a back lane. The intent is for these properties to be sensitively adapted into a residential cluster that blends heritage with contemporary urban living, allowing future residents to benefit from the site’s central location and close proximity to amenities.
3 Structural investigations have been carried out, and relevant reports will be made available to tenderers to ascertain the restoration and strengthening works required. The successful tenderer will be guided to sensitively restore the buildings and adapt them for residential or long-stay serviced apartment use in accordance with URA’s conservation guidelines. The restoration and adaptive reuse of the buildings will contribute to realising the vision for the Little India Historic District as a lively mixed-use precinct in a vibrant cultural setting where people live, work, and play.
4 Details on the site can be found in Annex A [PDF, 88kb].
