1. In collaboration with the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has launched a site at Lorong Bistari1 for sale by public tender for the development of a multi-storey “Next-Generation Driving Centre” (NGDC) for all vehicle classes.
2. The NGDC will replace the Bukit Batok Driving Centre, which will be phased out by December 2030 as part of plans to redevelop the area for new residential developments. The land parcel can be developed for a maximum permissible gross floor area of 72,500 sqm for driving circuits and other related facilities.
NGDC To Feature Advanced Training Technologies and Comprehensive Facilities
3. The NGDC will have advanced technologies and comprehensive facilities for efficient driving training and testing. The key features are:
• Multi-storey design that optimises land use while providing comprehensive training facilities to better meet the growing demand for driving licences;
• Simulator technology to provide safe yet realistic training and testing;
• Intelligent driving circuits that leverage advanced sensor technology and real-time monitoring systems to assess learners' proficiency and ensure consistency of motorist education and training;
• Class 4 and 5 training and testing capabilities to supplement the Singapore Safety Driving Centre (SSDC), which is currently the only facility for heavy vehicle licence training; and
• Separate circuits for training and testing.
4. Complementing existing driving centres in the North and East regions (i.e. SSDC and ComfortDelGro Driving Centre, respectively), the NGDC at Lorong Bistari will serve learner motorists in the West region, with access from Yew Tee MRT station and nearby bus stops. The details of the land parcel can be found in Annex A [PDF, 25 KB].
