Holttum Hall

About
Built in 1920, Holttum Hall is a symmetrical two-storey building set amid lush greenery, with a compact form topped by a hipped gable roof. Its design appears to have been influenced by the British vernacular style with Classical elements.
The History
Holttum Hall once served as the office and laboratory of Eric Holttum, Assistant Director of the Gardens from 1922 to 1925, and then Director from 1925 to 1949. An eminent botanist and expert on ferns, orchids, and gingers, he was later appointed the first Professor of Botany at the University of Malaya from 1949 to 1954.
