Historic address: 63 Emerald Hill Road

About
The 17 terrace houses of this street block as well as the 15 terrace houses of similar style at Saunders Road were designed by R. T. Rajoo in the mid-1920s for Low Koon Yee, a prominent Teochew businessman.
From 2002 to 2004, 63 and 65 Emerald Hill Road underwent restoration works which also included the addition of new extensions at their rear. In adapting the houses for modern day living, certain internal architectural elements like the timber floor joists were identified as key to the original character of the houses and left exposed so that they can be fully appreciated.
Guidelines and Procedures
All proposed works will need to comply with the Conservation Guidelines and the Specific Restoration Guidelines (SRG). Conservation Permission is required before all additions & alteration works and operations of new use can begin.
Residential Fronts are characterised by timber casement windows flanking a double-leafed timber door. All buildings with residential front which is existing and/or identified in the 'Specific Restoration Guidelines', regardless of land use zoning, shall be retained and restored.
