Former Vinayagananda Tamil School

The History
Tamil schools emerged soon after Tamils who had emigrated from South India were able to bring their wives and children to the settlement of Singapore. Early Tamil schools were set up in shophouses in Tanjong Pagar, Serangoon, and Potong Pasir. These were small classes of pupils taught by a single teacher. The pupils learnt Tamil language and literature, the Hindu epics, and Tamil values and culture.
