Identifying and Verifying URA Enforcement Officers
How do I identify and verify URA enforcement officers?
To verify the officer’s identity, members of the public can request for the Authority Card number and verify whether the officer is indeed from URA through the "Ask URA" chatbot on the URA website.
Click on the "Ask URA" avatar graphic at the bottom right-hand corner of the page, type “check officer” and key in the Authority Card number produced by the officer.
Are authorised URA enforcement officers allowed to enter premises to conduct their investigations?
Authorised URA enforcement officers may enter any premises to investigate potential planning infringements, and it is an offence under Section 27 of the Planning Act 1998 for a person to obstruct the officers in the carrying out of their duties in this regard.
Can I photograph or video-record the Authority cards of URA enforcement officers?
The URA Authority Card contains private information such as the officer’s full name, photo, and Authority Card number. To prevent fraudulent reproduction of URA Authority Cards and unauthorised disclosure of personal information as well as protect our officers from doxing or threats they may face while performing their duties, members of the public should not photograph or video-record the Authority Card. They should verify our officers’ identities using the URA Authority Card numbers via the URA website.
