Open call for proposals: Singapore Pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale 2027
1 June 2026
Inviting proposals for compelling and thought-provoking exhibitions that showcase Singapore’s architecture, urban design and built environment efforts in addressing critical urban challenges relevant to a global audience.

"Since our first participation at the Biennale in 2004, each Singapore Pavilion has captured a distinctive phase in our urban narrative — from our early expressions of resilience and innovation in land use, to today's explorations spanning the full spectrum of scale, from master planning to urban and architectural design. Two decades on, Singapore’s presentations have matured into multi-disciplinary dialogues that invite the world to experience Singapore as a living system of design."
Ar. Yap Lay Bee, Co-Commissioner of the Singapore Pavilion
Group Director (Architecture & Urban Design), URA
Singapore’s 10th presentation at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2027
Established in 1980, the Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition is the world’s oldest and most prestigious architecture exhibition, attracting leaders from the architecture, planning and real estate industries. Singapore has participated since 2004, and the 2027 edition will mark our 10th presentation at the Biennale.
The Singapore Pavilion at Venice Biennale is commissioned by the Urban Redevelopment Authority and DesignSingapore Council.
The 2027 Pavilion will be organised by the Singapore Art Museum. Under the curatorial direction of Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu, the Biennale will focus on grounded architectural approaches centred on materiality, local participation, craftsmanship, and lived experiences.
Submit your proposals
We invite proposals for compelling and thought-provoking exhibitions that showcase Singapore’s architecture, urban design and built environment efforts in addressing critical urban challenges relevant to a global audience.
This is an opportunity for locally-based architects and designers to present Singapore’s experience of rapid transformation, innovative approaches to tropical urbanism, and integration of heritage with development, offering rich material to the rest of the world for investigating fundamental questions about architecture’s role in society.
Proposals should demonstrate how Singapore’s unique approach to vernacular modernism, adaptive reuse and contextual design contributes to the global architectural discourse through deep investigation and critical examination.
