About
Peirce Reservoir was originally known as the Kallang River Reservoir. It was impounded across the lower reaches of the Kallang River in 1910.
The History
It was renamed in 1922 in commendation of the services of Robert Peirce, the municipal engineer of Singapore from 1901-1916.
The Building
The water intake tower and connecting bridge grace the waters of the reservoir. The elegant wrought iron balustrades and columns of the tower complement the heavy masonry construction of the structures.
The Legacy
The structures were given conservation status on 3 December 2009.
Guidelines and Procedures
All proposed works will need to comply with the Conservation Guidelines and the Specific Restoration Guidelines (SRG). Conservation Permission is required before all additions & alteration works and operations of new use can begin.
Any proposed additions and alterations to this conserved structure are subject to evaluation. Please submit your proposal for URA's review.
