Create more well-designed public spaces The Privately Owned Public Space (POPS) Design Guidelines was introduced in 2017 to encourage developers and building owners to create well-designed public spaces within developments. Since then, many buildings have included lively and comfortable public spaces for all to enjoy.
Here are 5 elements as part of the POPS guidelines that contribute to a well-designed space: 1 The space should be large enough with an open layout for more people to enjoy. 2 It should be prominently located on the ground floor and be easily accessible. 3 It should have clear signages and sufficient seating for people to gather and relax in. 4 It should be well shaded with landscaping and greenery for a more inviting experience. 5 The space could include power and water points and lighting to support activities or artworks to enliven the space further.
