Renovating Private Residential Property

Depending on the type of your property (e.g. detached house or flat) and the nature of the renovation works (e.g. room extension, earthcut or earthfill), you may need to apply for a planning permission. Find out if you need to obtain planning permission to renovate your private residential property.

Generally, making alterations or additions to your property would require a planning permission if the proposed works involve an increase in Gross Floor Area (GFA).

Land-titled Residential

Depending on the nature of renovation for your terrace, semi-detached or detached house, you may need to apply for a planning permission.

Strata-titled Residential

Internal works within your flat or condominium unit do not require planning permission when there is no increase in Gross Floor Area (GFA).
