RULES AND REGULATIONS

OPEN CATEGORY

1. ELIGIBILITY

    1.1 The competition is open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents residing in Singapore except URA employees and
         their immediate family members.

    1.2 Images that have won prizes in prior competitions, or have been used for commercial purposes and/or been published will not be
        eligible.

    1.3 An image can only be submitted for the Open or Instagram category, not both. Any image which is submitted for both categories will
        be considered ineligible.

2. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

    2.1 Images of not more than 10 MB in size must be submitted online and the organiser may request for higher resolution images
        subsequently. The original images should be at least 3 MB in size as winning images will be printed and exhibited. Shortlisted finalists
        will be notified via email to submit their original images within a week for judging.

    2.2 Submitted images should be in JPEG format and at least 1,600 pixels wide for a horizontal image or 1,600 pixels tall for a vertical
        image.

    2.3 Each participant can submit up to three (3) images.

    2.4 Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast
        adjustment, or simple cropping will be allowed.

    2.5 The organiser reserves the right to reject images with incomplete details required under the photo submission page. The submission
        deadline is 3 July, 2015, before 11.59pm.

    2.6 All submitted images are non-returnable. The file name for each image should be clearly labelled with the participant’s name, and
        where the image was taken. E.g. Lionel Lim Clarke Quay 1

    2.7 Participants are entirely responsible for all entry-related costs.

3. COPYRIGHT/INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

    3.1 Each image submitted must be the original and unpublished work of the participant who must also be its copyright owner.

    3.2 The participant shall retain copyright to the image entered for the competition.

    3.3 By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having granted the organiser the right to use the
        image in print, broadcast and/or electronic media without any fee payment, for the purposes of promoting the competition or areas
        related to the organiser’s work including:
        i. Urban planning and design
        ii. Conservation
        iii. Architecture
        
        Where any image is so used by the organiser, the participant  will be acknowledged accordingly.

    3.4 Images received by the organiser through the competition will not be used by the organiser for commercial purposes.

4. PRIZES

    4.1 Prizes are non-transferrable and non-exchangeable for cash or in kind.

    4.2 The organiser reserves the right to change or replace the competition prizes and/or modify the rules and regulations of the
        competition as and when necessary, without prior notice.

    4.3 The organiser shall not be liable for any fault with any of the prizes and any issues or queries relating to the condition of the prizes
        should be referred to the manufacturer/supplier of the prizes.

5. JUDGING AND RESULTS
    5.1 The images will be selected by a panel of judges and their decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and
        decision will be entertained.

    5.2 The panel of judges will evaluate the images based on the following criteria:
        - Artistic/visual appeal.
        - Extent to which the photograph captures the essence of the theme.

    5.3 Images will be judged based on originality, creativity and relevance to the theme.

    5.4 The judging panel reserves the right not to award the prizes if the images submitted do not meet the requirements stated in this
        document.

    5.5 Results of the competition will be posted on the “50 years: buildings and spaces that shape SG” photography competition website
        and winners will also be notified via email.

6. ACCEPTANCE OF RULES AND REGULATIONS

    6.1 By submitting an image for the competition, the participant will be regarded as having accepted and agreed to be bound by the
        rules and regulations of the competition.

    6.2 While the organiser will exercise due care during the collection, selection and storage of images, it shall not be held liable for any
        loss, theft or destruction of the images.

7. ORGANISERS

    7.1 The “50 years: buildings and spaces that shape SG” photography competition is organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority
        (URA).

INSTAGRAM CATEGORY

1. ELIGIBILITY

    1.1 The competition is open to all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents residing in Singapore except URA employees and their
        immediate family members.

    1.2 Participant must be a registered Instagram user and enter in his/her own name. If the participant has not already registered for
        his/her free Instagram account, he/she can download the Instagram App and follow the instructions to sign up.

    1.3 Images that have won prizes in prior competitions, or have been used for commercial purposes and/or been published will not be
        eligible.

    1.4 An image can only be submitted for either the Open category or Instagram category, but not both. Any image which is submitted
        for both categories will be considered ineligible.

2. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

    2.1 Image submission to the competition is through Instagram. The participant's profile must be public. Images must contain the hashtag #shapingSG and a short caption of at least 10 words (or of not more than 40 words) that describes the image. The organiser may subsequently request for the high resolution images to be submitted.

    2.2 Each participant may submit as many images as he/she wishes so long as every image submitted is accompanied by the hashtags
        and captions required.

    2.3 Images submitted must be the participant’s own work.

        contrast adjustment, or simple cropping, or effects/filters made available by phone applications, will be allowed.

    2.5 The organise reserves the right to reject entries with incomplete details required under the photo submission page. The submission
        deadline is 3 July, 2015, before 11.59pm.

    2.6 Should multiple users of the same Instagram account enter the competition and a dispute thereafter arise regarding the identity
        of the participant, the authorised account holder of the said Instagram account at the time of submission will be considered the
        participant and he/she will be required to comply with these Terms and Conditions. (“Authorised account holder” is defined as the
        natural person who is assigned an account by Instagram. Participants may be required to show proof of being the authorised account
        holder associated with their Instagram account.)

        , 2015.

        and winners will also be notified via a post on their Instagram entry.
