i Light Marina Bay 2016 sees highest participation from local artists to date

About i Light Marina Bay
i Light Marina Bay, Asia’s leading sustainable light art festival, was first held in 2010 by the Urban Redevelopment Authority as a biennial event to inject vibrancy and reinforce Marina Bay’s position as a sustainable precinct. The festival features light art installations around the Marina Bay waterfront by local and international artists incorporating sustainable elements, such as the use of recyclable materials and energy-efficient lighting technologies. The festival is powered through energy savings from the ‘Switch Off, Turn Up’ campaign, where participating stakeholders and building owners around the Bay and beyond are encouraged to switch off non-essential lighting and turn up air-conditioning temperatures during the period of the festival. Beyond the showcase of visual art and urban space, the festival also offers a dynamic line-up of events and programmes, including performances, dining options, workshops and family-friendly activities. In view of the good response for the first three editions of the festival, i Light Marina Bay will become an annual event from 2016.
