The Importance of Accurate Plan Representation

  Published: 21 October 2020

We have received feedback about inaccurate representation in certain property marketing collaterals.

For example, a bedroom is marketed as being able to fit a queen-sized bed, when it is not actually the case. The bedroom measured 1.9m lengthwise on plan, which is the exact length of a standard mattress. The situation was made worse when the actual construction led to a slight difference in the actual room measurements, and the queen-sized bed was unable to fit as promised.

Home buyers only realise after taking possession of the unit that the bedroom is too small to fit a bed properly.

Qualified Persons are strongly advised to ensure that bedrooms are adequately sized to fit standard bed frames. Care should also be taken to ensure that the marketing materials accurately reflect the size of the rooms.
