Built in 1903 with traditional construction of masonry, brick and timber, the temple is a typical single module Southern Chinese clan temple. It is well-proportional and the style follows that of Fujian temple design where the building is crowned with hipped and gable roofs with over-hanging eaves all round.
The temple is richly decorated with paintings and frescos adorning the interior surfaces. It contains a wealth of artistic details and workmanship that is rarely found in temples in Singapore. The building given conservation status on 13 Mar 2009.
