BRIDGE ACROSS ALEXANDRA ROAD & ELEVATED WALKWAY TO TELOK BLANGAH HILL PARK

The connection comprises a 1.6 km meandering elevated walkway leading from Telok Blangah Hill Park to an 80-metre long bridge across Alexandra Road.  The design for the elevated walkway and bridge is inspired by nature, and attempts to stitch the man-made structure into the natural landscapes.

Artist impression of the elevated walkway

The leaf of the ‘mile-a-minute' plant is used to design the triangular modules of the elevated walkway. The elevated walkway is without steps and meanders in a zig-zag fashion to hug the steep slopes. This allows the elderly and disabled to walk from Telok Blangah Hill Park to Hyderabad Road and enjoy the different landscapes. Besides the pedestrian-friendly walkway, there will also be earth trails for the fit and rugged visitors who prefer a more challenging climb at an elevation of about 70m (about a 21-storey residential building).

The bridge has a curved deck and a tilted arch, which looks like an opened leaf across Alexandra Road. Ramps and staircases on each side bring the visitors up to the overhead pedestrian bridge from both sides of the road. On the Hyderabad Road side, the bridge is connected to the Horticulture Park via a Floral Walk.

View of bridge during night time

At night, the bridge will be lit by colour changing lights to add some flutter and dazzle to the nightscape. The lights will be switched on between 7pm and 11:30pm daily.
