MARINE PARADE COMMUNITY CLUB

- Marine Parade Community Club (MPCC), in expression and programme, leveraged on the new commodified cultures to render the form of cultural pluralism: making community appealing through the images of conspicuous consumption.
- MPCC's "post-modern" formal sensibility is formed by disrupting the containment in the anonymous, often touted flexible and multi-use enclosure. It chose a surface image of diversity, forming a distinctive landmark, differentiated from the nearby Housing & Development Board (HDB) housing blocks.
- Externally, the leaf-like roof forms stand out as part of this assemblage; as do the huge wall mural cladding, which is a piece of commissioned artwork. Yet, at ground level the perimeter wall, typical of earlier Community Clubs, has vanished and public routes across it enhance its accessibility.
