groups!

by Gillian Tan
Are you a businessman wanting to know how you could change the use of your premises? A motorist trying to pay your car parking fines? Or a student researching for more information?
Good news for you! The new URA Online has all these answers and much more.
Launched on 9 April 2002, the revamped website offers a refreshing look and feel. Information and services relevant to different groups of customers such as building professionals, business owners, homeowners, motorists, and students are bundled together for easy access.
85 per cent of services available online
Many new electronic services (e-services) have also been launched. The count stands at 78 e-services presently, which is equivalent to about 85% of URA's services that can be delivered electronically. By the end of June this year, another 14 new e-services will be rolled out.
So what can you do online?
Checking application status via SMS
Wondering about the status of your development applications? As an enhancement to the Electronic Development Application (EDA) system, architects and developers can now check the status of their (EDAs) instantly via SMS simply by keying in the reference number of their EDA submissions.
Purchasing plans 'mail order' style
Building professionals can now purchase URA's plans (such as landed housing estate plans and zoning interpretation plans) directly online and have them mailed right to their doorstep.
Change of use of premises made simple
Changing the use of premises is now a breeze. Business owners can find out the current approved use of their premises, whether planning permission is required to change the use of premises etc. - all from the convenience of their workplace or home!
Services galore for motorists
Even more services are now available online for motorists using URA's parking facilities. Besides buying URA season parking tickets, motorists can also check for any outstanding parking offence notices and pay for them online. Your car is in the workshop and you are wondering how you can use your season parking. Now, season parking ticket holders only need to lodge their requests online for temporary change of car and instant approval will be given. Transferring URA season parking tickets and replacing lost tickets can also be done easily online.
Research information in just a few clicks
Designed with students and researchers in mind, a special section has been set up where all URA published information such as land use planning and conservation are catalogued for fast and easy access. Doing research for a school project has never been simpler!
Log on to URA Online to discover for yourselves what is available. Do also give us your feedback on how to improve the website or e-services. Where is the feedback form? Online, of course!
