The plans to make Woodlands an even more attractive place to live, work and play were unveiled on 17 February 2002. The exhibition was first held at the Marsiling Community Club and later at the Woodlands Civic Centre. This was a collaborative effort between various government agencies including those under the Ministry of National Development such as URA, Housing and Development Board and National Parks Board (NParks). The proposals aim to provide residents with an even better living environment in the future. Let us look at what's in the pipeline.
Rustic regional park
A new regional park stretching the entire length of Riverside Road, is planned close to the Woodlands regional centre and existing homes. This rustic nature park will incorporate existing natural vegetation including the mangroves along Sungei China. Boardwalks will enable visitors to observe the rich flora and fauna and more landscaped open spaces will offer ideal locations for family picnics. NParks will begin work on the park in 2005, targeting for completion in 2007.
