More than 12,000 people visited the ideas exhibition, "Making Orchard Road More Happening" last April which was held first at the Paragon Shopping Centre and later at the URA Centre.

Over a two-month period, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and URA engaged stakeholders, including the Orchard Road Business Association in four dialogue sessions. URA also sought comments from opinion leaders on our Design Advisory Committee as well as the International Panel Of Architects And Urban Planners.

Orchard Mall enhancement

The public gave unanimous thumbs up for the proposal to enhance the tropical landscaping and upgrade the existing Orchard Road Mall. STB and URA are now leading a multi-agency effort to strengthen Orchard Road's premier street image and lush boulevard character. New landscaping, paving and street furniture are in the works.

Public open spaces

The people also called for more public spaces and activities along Orchard Road. Today, there are already well-used open spaces along Orchard Road where people meet or where events are organised, such as Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza and H2O zone. These existing open spaces will be retained and more new public spaces will be provided for when future sales sites are sold. An exciting calendar of activities organized by STB throughout the year will keep Orchard Road buzzing.
