REALIS has generated considerable interest since its launch last November. Users ranging from companies such as real estate consultancies, developers and banks to private individuals have already signed up for this service. Current subscribers include Richard Ellis, Collier Jardines, Cushman and Wakefield, Credit Suisse First Boston, OrangeTee.com, GK Goh Research, Ayala International Holdings, HPL Properties Pte Ltd and Japura Development Pte Ltd.
REALIS is packed with a wealth of timely and comprehensive information and a range of data analysis tools to make managing property information a breeze. Here we highlight three of the many timesaving features found on REALIS:
Customising data
With REALIS, users can customise the retrieval of data from URA's databases. For example, if you were searching for private sector office developments on land sold through the Government Land Sales programme in the Downtown Core area, REALIS would be able to zoom into the projects that meet your criteria.
On-the-spot analysis
REALIS offers on-the-spot data analysis functions with the mathematical tools found on its platform. For example, the difference between the median price (per square metre) of apartments in the East and North- East can be easily calculated using these tools. The results can be displayed as charts or tables and tables can be downloaded in CSV (comma-separated value) format, which can be used with Microsoft Excel, Access and other software.
Cross-tabulating data
REALIS also has a data analysis function to let users cross-tabulate data from URA's database. For example, users can easily tabulate the median rental in Raffles Place, Marina Centre and Cecil Street area from first quarter 2000 to third quarter 2001 for a quick comparison.
What's next for REALIS?
URA will continue to improve REALIS by adding new data and databases, such as rental and land sales data and other planning and land-related information, as well as by increasing the frequency of updates. Making REALIS available to ad hoc users such as interested homebuyers is also in the works.
