SINGAPORE 1:1 - A LIVING GALLERY OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN

Singapore has been likened to a living gallery of architecture and urban design. This year , the URA will collaborate with BOA, NUS, REDAS and SIA to hold an exhibition and publish a guidebook that will showcase a selection of significant works built in the City Centre since 1965, when Singapore gained Independence. This is in continuation of our initiatives to promote Architecture and Urban Design Excellence in Singapore.

On behalf of BOA, NUS, REDAS and SIA , we are pleased to invite you to indicate your interest for your works to be considered for this exhibition by 04 March 2005. The works to be featured will be jointly selected by a Selection Panel comprising representatives from BOA, NUS, REDAS, SIA and URA.

Appendix 1
ELIGIBILITY
1

The works you propose for this exhibition can be solo or joint projects which you were directly involved in as a designer / author. For joint projects, members of the project team will also have to be acknowledged.

The works featured in this exhibition should be of national significance, satisfying one or more of the following criteria:

a) Historical significance to Singapore's nation building.
b) Architectural significance
c) Urban design quality
d) Completed in the last 40 years and is still standing.

The works must be located within the Central Area, projects on either side of the boundary roads are eligible. (see map)

   

HOW TO APPLY

STEP 1
Indicate your interest on-line by 04 March 2005 with the name(s) of building(s) you wish to nominate:

STEP 2
Submit the following via email, by hand or post by 28 March 2005 :

A) Completed Registration Form;

B) A short write up (no longer than 500 words) in A4-size format, detailing on the historical and/or architectural significance and key features/qualities of the p roject proposed. Please include any a wards, prizes or commendations won. Copies of published articles/books in which the works were featured should also be submitted ; and

C) Key Images (e.g. photographs, drawings or photographs of models) in A4-size format, to demonstrate the qualities of the completed work.

STEP 3
Upon notification of selection, you will be requested to submit further supporting materials (e.g. old photographs, drawings or sketches) by 29 April 2005 .

Submission of exhibition panels by 26 Sept 2005 .

If you are delivering by hand to The URA Centre, please deposit your submissions in the Collection Box for “SINGAPORE 1:1” at the Customer Service Counter, 1 st storey. Our opening hours are from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm (Mon – Fri) and 8:30 am - 1 pm (Sat).

The Panel reserves the right to reject any submission which does not comply with the submission requirements. The discretion of the Panel in the selection of the exhibits is absolute.

   

EXHIBITION MATERIALS

If your submissions are selected for this exhibition, URA shall have the right (without any payment, charge or fee whatsoever to any person) to display, publish, reproduce or otherwise publicise or communicate your submissions (including photographs and drawings) for this and subsequent exhibitions or publications. URA will provide appropriate citation and acknowledgement of the authors.

There is no registration fee. If selected for this exhibition, your exhibits will be produced with your own design and at your own cost. For consistency of the exhibition, URA will curate the accompanying text panel to your exhibits. The text will be based on factual inputs from you and will also include a standardised location map. Exhibits will be required to be mounted on 10mm-thick A1 foam boards and delivered together with a soft copy to The URA Centre.
