About Development Control

The aim of development control in Singapore is to ensure all properties are developed and used according to the Master Plan land use zoning, gross plot ratio and building height controls. Through the development control process, URA will seek to protect the amenities and interests of the larger community while being mindful of the needs of individual landowners and businesses in its planning policies and guidelines. In this regard, it will continue to strive for a fair balance of interests within the community by facilitating developments through planning approvals and yet protect the amenity of the area.
