Singapore 699.1 km2 opened to an international audience in Brazil at the 2005 Sao Paulo International Biennial of Architecture and Design. Singapore is the first South-East Asian city that has been invited and presented at this presitigous biennial.

In line with the Biennial's theme of "Living in the City", the film aims to show how within the constraints of a small island of 699 sq km, Singapore has provided for the needs of a nation, creating an attractive living environment through good planning, urban design and architecture, working hand in hand with public agencies and stakeholders. The business of planning and its outcomes are directly experienced as a dynamic journey – through a variety of sights and sounds familiar to Singapore and Singaporeans – timeless and endearing qualities which contribute to our environment and way of life.

Singapore 699.1 km 2 is presented by DesignSingapore Council, co-presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, curated and organised by the Singapore Institute of Architects. The film is produced by Dream Forest Productions, with the support of Keppel Offshore & Marine and Surbana.
