Located to the north-west of the Downtown Core, the area was given conservation status on 7 July 1989. It is an attractive and quiet residential area with some commercial premises in the main shopping zone near Orchard Road. Its historic buildings are predominantly two-storey terrace houses built in a variety of architectural styles ranging from Transitional to Art Deco Styles.
