Located along Balestier Road, the area was given conservation status on 1 December 2003. It is a linear commercial stretch of old and new developments along Balestier Road between Thomson Road and Moulmein Road. The streetblocks comprise a mix of 2-storey pre-war shophouses as well as more recent 3- to 6-storey shop/flat developments.
