URA helps to facilitate the implementation of the plans through the sale of government land to the private sector. URA releases a steady supply of state land for residential, commercial, hotel and industrial developments to meet demand as well as achieve national development objectives. This ensures that adequate land is available to support economic and industrial growth, provide housing, social leisure facilities and commercial amenities for a better quality of life.

Over the past three decades, URA has released 1360 land parcels through the Government Land Sales Programme. The properties built on these land parcels contributed 35 per cent of Singapore's total commercial space, 39 per cent of the total stock of hotel rooms and 26 per cent of private housing.
